Our brief was to design and create an open-plan kitchen and dining area (previously two separate rooms) that would become the focal point of the home. The clients wanted a practical, functional space that would work for family life while also providing a welcoming environment for entertaining guests.
To achieve this, we relocated the kitchen to the front of the house, allowing for a generous family entertaining area with easy access to the rear garden. The design features a contemporary take on the classic in-frame shaker kitchen, finished in a modern colour and paired with 30mm quartz worktops. Warm grey wall tones add depth and softness, while white column radiators enhance the room’s period character.
As keen cooks, the clients opted for premium Siemens appliances, including an oven and microwave combination, along with smart internal storage solutions. Tall cabinetry was built flush into the wall at one end of the dining area to create additional storage, incorporate a discreet home desk, and conceal the boiler. A playful blackboard wall completes the design ensuring family notes and weekly chores never get overlooked.
