Barnrose carried out the full restoration of this Grade II listed period cottage in Burford. Internally, the property was completely stripped back and reimagined to create a more open and cohesive layout. The kitchen was repositioned to the rear of the property, allowing for a larger and more inviting sitting room at the front.
Our brief was to design and create a classic high-end kitchen with provision for dining within the listed confinements of a relatively small space. We achieved this by designing the kitchen around a central island, which features a cantilevered oak dining table with a built-in tongue-and-groove settle, allowing for seating along the back.
An in-frame beaded shaker kitchen, painted in Farrow & Ball ‘De Nimes’, with antique warm brass hardware, was chosen to evoke a timeless and traditional feel. The soft, opaque quartz finish of the worktops complements the tones of the doors.
Premium Neff appliances and wine cooler, dovetailed oak soft-close drawers, and on-trend internal storage solutions were incorporated to combine practicality with craftsmanship. A bespoke built-in larder completed the design, tailored perfectly to meet our client’s everyday needs.
