Barnrose carried out the full restoration of this charming period cottage in Stow-on-the-Wold. At the rear of the property, the original small galley kitchen was completely reimagined. A new extension was constructed to create a spacious kitchen and dining area, featuring vaulted ceilings and bi-fold doors that flood the space with natural light.
Our brief was to design and install a kitchen and utility solution within a tight budget, working across both the existing kitchen and the new rear extension. Maximise the available space, embrace the vaulted ceiling and open layout, and create a contemporary kitchen that remains sympathetic to the cottage’s character.
We achieved this by introducing a classic-style kitchen designed around a central peninsula, which helps to define a separate dining area. The light blue cabinetry and white quartz worktops complement the warm grey palette used throughout the house, while the limestone flooring and oak ledge-and-braced doors bring natural warmth and texture to the space. Smeg appliances were selected as a practical and stylish choice, providing quality and value in keeping with the overall design.
